Commercialized genetic marker-based cancer diagnostic arrays and TCell-based immuno-sequencing assays. Several patents have been issued and licensed. Completed seed funding. Built the MIODx Team.

Initiated all company activities; secured over $45M in contract funding; licensed 3 patents; manages executive team, corporate development, contracts, and projects; leads private funding activities; develops company strategy; interfaces with public and strategic partners. Company is focused on airborne and fluidics-based PCR and immunoassay-based pathogen detection instrumentation development. Filed over 30 patents, 13 issued.

Cepheid. 904 Caribbean Dr. Sunnyvale, CA 94089. Co-founder, VP and CTO (1997-2001). Development and management of the Research Department, made key company decisions, and participated in Executive Team and Board of Directors meetings with the other 3 officers of the company, provided foresight into advanced areas of R and D, and product development. Principal Investigator of extramurally and competitively funded grants totaling over $12M. Part of the IPO team and successfully brought the company public in June, 2000. Company is focused on PCR fluidics-based pathogen detection instrumentation development. Cepheid was purchased by Danaher Corporation in 2006. https://www.danaher.com/

Finnigan Corp., San Jose, CA.  6 years. System Test Technician (1981-82). Final testing of gas chromatograph/mass spectrometers and associated systems.  Evaluation of instrument chemical sensitivity, vacuum and electrical components, and troubleshooting of entire system.  Responsible for final quality of instrument to customer. Reliability /Chemist (1982-83). Instrument design reviews, standards generation, failure analysis, margin testing, component design and testing, and package design. Worked with research and engineering to incorporate reliability as a major factor in instrument design. Marketing Support Writer/Editor (1984- 86). Managing Editor of technical mass spectrometry journal, SPECTRA, and other technical marketing publications. Co-organizer of technical seminar series.
